Venna Lake, Mahabaleshwar

While coming back from Panchgani, we stopped at Venna Lake for some boating. It has changed its face since we visited it last time three years back.
The Venna Lake is a great attraction to everybody with its dazzling sight, boating, fishing, newly came up dam and stalls for games and eatables. It is within walking distance from Town Mahabaleshwar.
It also supplies drinking water to the town. Venna Lake has an area of 28 Acres and average depth of the 10 ft.

Nice photos… I would have suggested Panshet if you were in Pune. Nice spot, nice boating…

I am surprised that they have allowed boating on the lake, if it supplies drinking water to the town. Because in my experience, if boating is allowed, keeping the lake clean is a very difficult thing to do.

Priyank,
Oh Oh.. Don’t be so sad. You still have a whole life to go there.
Fleiger,
Thank you very much. I have never been to Pune, so you can still suggest me.

Sigma,
Yes, it is difficult to keep the lake clean. I have captured those shots as well but not displayed here since I wanted to show the beauty first.
The water is used for drinking purpose mainly because it is sweet water.
You made me think now.
There was a huge pumping house, attached to it were thick wide pipes to carry the water out of the lake. They definitely would be processing/cleaning the water before supplying it. I hope so.

Pijush,
Oh Pijush, you are so correct !!
And you are the one who looks at the other side of photos (I mean technicalities).

Oh great… You have been to every other place in Maharashtra, and hasn’t been to the best of them? Well, get to Pune then.

Fleiger,
Not interested in seeing cities. Have seen plenty of them. Tell me some small town / village or even a remote unknown place will do.
BTW, I heard from someone who is now in Pune that it is just not a match to Mumbai.

Last time I looked, Mumbai didn’t have majestic Shanivarwada sitting in the middle, with Parvati (among many other hills) standing by. No Balgandharva Rangmandir, no Sinhgad , Khadkwasala and Panshet. And definitely no NDA or CME (even NDA road is beautiful). And that’s just popular sites.
For mumbaikars natural beauty is something you go to Khandala to see, and history is something you learn in school and forget.
So believe me when I say that you are missing a lot by dismissing Pune as “yet another city”.

Forgot to mention religious places like Dehu and Alandi, and myriad forts within an easy drive…

enjoyed reading tt.

It seems you had a great time there. I just wonder whether they let motorboats there and then supply water for drinking purposes; hope not…
Have a great weekend!

Noorain,
I am sorry, I cannot help you in this matter. I don’t think there is any contact no. for Venna lake.
When you go to Mahabaleshwar, you can ask anybody for it. It is quite famous lake and a tourist spot.
