Parikrama at Ganapati Temple

The Hindu worshipers generally take a round (Parikrama) of a temple to conclude their puja (worshipping). Generally it happens within the temple compound.
But Ganapati temple at Ganapatipule has something more to offer. One of them is the parikrama (circular) path which is especially made for this purpose. It surrounds the temple and a small hillock belonging to temple complex. The temple itself is not very big.

The Parikrama path is more than 2 Kms long but the most important thing which very few people know about it, is that it is in the shape of huge Lord Ganesha ! Almost in the shape of the sketch below.

The entire pathway is tiled and cemented with sturdy railings along the way and is well maintained. There are many ups & downs along the way in the form of steps which greet you. :)

And the route ends with 2 small twin tanks on one side with steps going down to water.

For people like me, this circular route served two purposes. Worshiping and my morning walk. :D

People do have brilliant ideas. :D

    Well, I haven’t written much about the temple. :)

    The Parikrama Path is really very well kept. The tanks are interesting. Right now I am in Mumbai and yuesterday had been to Vajreshwari where hot water tanks are encountered.
