River Krabi
Krabi town is incomplete without its river, bearing the same name. Some major shops, banks and govt offices are on main Uttarakit road which runs along the river. It has a nice wide promenade to spend your evenings and you can also see evening/ nights markets, docks and parks along the way.

Beautiful !!
One pier caters to ferrying locals to other parts of the town while the other is busy for river cruises for tourists. On some boats, you can see preparations going on for night parties with orchestra practicing and other sets of people cutting vegetables, setting tables and drinks etc.

This one was getting ready for night party.
If you walk a kilometer further up from there on Uttrakit road, you hit a place where night food market comes to life every evening.
If you are lucky enough, you can also watch some long boats participating in race.

Ready to go for a river cruise ?

At a distance a boat race was in action.
Note – The photos are taken on different days.

Loved the pictures and the commentary- Although I grew up with Thailand just nearby- and I visited there on several occasions- I didn’t get to know much about the country. It has been great getting the glimpses you have shared with us here.

Anjuli,
Many times it happens that the place we live in or near us gets neglected inadvertently and if someone else points out something about it, we get to know how ignorant we were.
Somehow we become immune to that area.
It happens with me always.

Good shots. I like those long narrow boats, like the types used during the boat racing in Kerala.

Krabi is my personal favorite from Thailand. I didn’t do a river cruise but loved my stay at Riley beach, the whole ambiance of Riley and island hopping experience.
