Sky full of kites

18 January 2013 15 Comments

This week I came back from Ahmedabad. Every year the city celebrates International Kite Festival on a grand scale on 14th of January, the day Hindus celebrate Makar Sankranti.

People come here from many countries to fly kites. Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, China…. oh too many! You can see kites in all colors, shapes and sizes. The children come to see their favourites like Jellyfish, Dolphin, Bat, Superman, Butterfly etc. Some of these kites carry messages too.

As the name suggests, the sky was full of kites and enthusiasm and the people in thousands cheered them up.
