The Year That Was 2011
Another year. Another set of to-dos. And a time to look back and take stock …
Yes, I know I am late to do this post but by only a few days and since I am travelling, I can be excused.
Sometimes we travel to too many places and at times we don’t have enough.
The year 2011 started in the Philippines. We celebrated our Christmas & new year in that country. Besides the capital Manila, we could explore some part of it but Batad was a …

Picture of the moment: Statue at Batu caves
Picture of the moment is a weekly series exhibiting pictures, through which I show you a bit of my world.
This is a statue of God Murugan at Batu caves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Yes, I am in Kuala Lumpur right now but this photo is two years old. When I visited this place in 2009, I was awestruck by its gigantic size.
You can see the steep steps going to the caves.

Me being myself; my first reaction was “oh, so many mosquito coils! “.
But they were something else.

Malaysian food festival in India.
Sometime back I was invited by Tourism Malaysia to attend Malaysian food festival.
Being fond of Malaysian food I could not resist myself from savoring some of the dishes. I also looked for Apam Balik which was absent from the menu, probably because it is a street food.
The most common dishes like Roti Canai, Nasi Goreng etc were missing from the menu as well. Probably they wanted us to taste some new dishes.
Fish bowl soup and cauliflower curry soup
Satay chicken, Satay veg
Roti Jala
Ayam Ketumbar
Ikan Assam
Soya …

Do you like it when you go for a movie, relax in your seat and in the midst of an engrossing scene, suddenly a cranky infant starts crying in his highest volume right behind your seat?
I don’t. And I won’t.
I love babies but please do not get me wrong. There are certain moments when we would not like to hear an unending howl especially when we are finishing off some urgent work or trying to take a short nap.
Probably you’d suggest a couple seat in a theatre or a cozy …
