Schaffhausen Falls
Schaffhausen waterfall is on river Rhine and is the largest plain waterfall in Europe. Very forceful, full of water in any season and a treat to watch. In summer, one can take a boat to the large rock in the center of the falls for an even more impressive view.
Schaffhausen is Switzerland’s northernmost urban outpost almost touching Germany and can be reached from Zurich in around 40 minutes by train.
A trip to Zurich is incomplete if you have not been to this picturesque place.

A typical sunny day at South Street, Sea Port, New York.
Amsterdam, The World »
As the title says, this post is about Amsterdam. Had been to Amsterdam twice. Both times it was a short trip, time stolen from my busy schedule. First time I went there from Brussels on my way back during gloomy winter days. It was a Sunday. Took an early train to Amsterdam from where I had to take my flight for Mumbai. It is just an hour’s train journey. Sometimes (well.. all the time) I feel it is easier to go from one country to another in Europe than to …

“Jaipur se gaadi nikli, dilli chali halle-halle” If you happen to remember this quite old song from a Rishi Kapoor/Sridevi starrer then probably you know what I want to say.
Sorry I was young then, don’t remember the name of this movie. I would appreciate if someone helps me getting the song. Ever since I saw this song on television, I had fallen in love with that place and wanted to go there. I had a dream… to visit the place where they have such small working models of running trains …
St. Gallen, Switzerland, The World »
So, at the lake we took a ferry. We had bought the day-pass for our travel; it is convenient because it can be used for travel on train, bus, tram and ferry within Switzerland. We need not buy any other ticket. The ferry was a huge one, I should call it a small ship. It had a drive-through for cars. People were taking their cars, scooters, even the bicycles along to go to other places. I was told it was a common practice. All the notices, instructions were in German …
St. Gallen, Switzerland, The World »
St Gallen was the first place that I visited outside Geneva. I was fortunate enough to visit this place within a month of my landing in Switzerland and it became a memorable one.. not for anything else but for my stupidity.
It so happened that three Indians (including two from my company working on different projects) were going for a one day tour to explore some places of Switzerland. I immediately expressed my wish to join them.
So, on a Sunday early morning, four of us took a train …
Geneva, Switzerland, The World »
Without Lac Léman, Geneva is incomplete and without Jet d’Eau (Water Jet), Lac Léman is incomplete. They are both integral parts of Geneva. The city’s most noted landmark, the Jet d’Eau is situated in Lake Geneva. Its 140-metre-high water column is visible from many parts of the city. This jet remains closed for three months during peak winter. Also, in year 2000, Geneva was awarded the Wakker Prize for its architectural heritage.
This freshwater lake is very big in size (more than 70 KM long) and spread to France also. A …
