Malta »

[2 Jul 2011 | 4 Comments | ]

If you are unmarried, don’t forget to wake up early on the 1st of May and wash your face with dew drops.
Yup, it is an old-wives-tale of Malta that if you do it then you will meet your future wife or husband soon.
As usual I was researching Mediterranean region on my World Map; I came across this word Malta and there was mere a dot (had to use a lens to see it ) to depict its place in the map. I knew it was a country …

Hawaii, U S A »

Aloha Hawaii, the island I would like to visit sometime.
Polynesian islands always conjure up images of extreme tropics, flowers bands on the head, swirling hips, Pina-Colada and generally happy bunch of people. We are also reminded of active volcanoes that are scattered in most of the islands!
Polynesian islands or Polynesian triangle as it is often called include a vast number of islands on the Pacific Ocean, with the apex at Hawaii, New Zealand and Easter Islands.
I would like to visit it one day.

Ariel view of islands.
Although I have been to …

A few days back a friend called me up and excitedly told she had just returned from the Balearic Islands.
I had no clue where on the earth was this. When I asked her, she told me Balearic Islands is a group of 4 islands named Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera, under Spanish governance on the Mediterranean sea.
God! I have always wanted to go to the Mediterranean islands and coastal towns; don’t know how long I’ll have to wait. For the time being here is an account of my friend’s experience, …

Canary Islands »

One of the most exotic places I want to spend my time is in Canary Islands, also known as the Canaries.
Situated just off the north-west coast of mainland Africa, this cluster of islands is a holiday paradise for everyone. Wonderful all year round weather conditions, great natural attractions, and booming nightlife make the islands a major tourist destination.
Whether you are going as a family, a couple or a bunch of friends; want to relax or try some adventurous stuff, it has plenty to offer. Just choose the right island and …

Sunset at Koh Phayam
I like this photo very much.
Sky covered with radiance of golden hues mixed with erubescency of sunset …
looking at its own reflection in tranquil water … …
Definitely gives a distinct feel.
Shot at Koh Phayam.
You can watch more skies around the world at SWF.

Elephanta Caves, Mumbai »

[19 Nov 2007 | 10 Comments | ]

I thought my previous post would be the last one on Elephanta caves but a question from Sam which he popped up on my other blog made me write this one. The question was “How long does it take for a complete trip of Elephanta caves?”

Well, to be frank.. if you are young and energetic and have no problems climbing up the hill, you can very well cover it in a day.
However, a few things before you start off the expedition.
1. Try to reach the Gateway of India early in …

Elephanta Caves, Mumbai »

Some more pictures from the caves. As always, they are just the way they were clicked.. without any enhancements. You can click them to get enlarged view. And you can also check my webpicasa album for more pictures.

Most of the sculptures were in bad shape.

The closer look of a Shivaling. All the Shivlings are worshiped daily with fresh flowers and one can smell the nice fragrance of incense sticks.

The main sculpture.
