Shopping by tourists in Malaysia

In my last post I wrote about shopping festival in Malaysia. Thousands of tourists come here every year to get the best deals and have fun. I am one of them. πŸ˜€

So how does it feel to be a tourist here? Are there more benefits for them or do they become targets of cheating and manipulating? These questions keep coming to all of us.

But not to worry. Tourists are pampered in this country. Most of the shopping malls have special services or schemes for the foreign nationals.

For example, the other day I went to SOGO. When I was buying stuff, I was guided by the staff to go to Customer care to avail of special discounts on my bill. To say I was happy, would be an understatement.
On producing my passport, I was given a Tourist Privilege Card which entitles me a 5% off on all storewide purchases on top of any other discounts.

Instead of the whole story, I’ll jot down the special services that are offered to a foreigner like me. These are called tourist services.

VIP Lounge
Need a break from shopping? There’s a VIP Lounge tucked away in a quiet corner for your comfort and convenience. Enjoy complimentary drinks and internet access too while you’re there.

Money Changer

Stamps & International Courier Service

Personal Items Safekeeping
