Wash basin on table ?

Have you ever seen a table with a wash basin at the center of it ?

Wherever I go, my ever observant eyes look for the unusual. This time was no different.
I was at the bus stop of Chikhli, a very small town in Maharashtra. I was stuck there because of heavy rains and knew there was no bus for onward journey.
And so I wanted to have a cup of tea before I could start hunting for a place to stay overnight. I entered a shop and spotted this table.

Have you seen any innovative thing like this ?

Each table has a tap with drinking water and a small basin under it. You can fill your glass and also wash your hands before & after eating. There is no separate wash basin or wash area as we generally find at an eating place. The water supply & drainage system are underground.

An innovative way but do they have enough drinking water for washing hands as well ?

I asked this to owner and he said they don’t face any such problem.

Kudos to the idea and the town where they do not have scarcity of drinking water.

  1. I did not see anywhere but I am not sure if I like it. I have to try it to see if I like it. My reservation is washing hands with soap and then splash around the table…..is table dry enough to put plates.

  2. Indian bazar,
Whoever’s idea is that, it’s something new.

That’s a personal choice but I was talking about the concept. Fairly new for me that too in a small unknown place. 🙂

Yes, there were waiters to see that tables were clean and dry.

    Thank you.
    Yes it is.
