Before we realize, it’s yet another month and time for yet another souvenir from my treasure box ! 😀
This time I take you to New Zealand. We had gone to New Zealand on a vacation and Auckland was the first city in which we had landed. Since we wanted to explore the country without a fixed plan, we had booked a self-driven vehicle for the entire duration along with the air tickets. So when we came out of the airport at Auckland, the hired vehicle was waiting for us.
After checking in & freshening up in a hotel, the first stop to see was the tallest man made structure in New Zealand, called Sky Tower. I have posted a photo of it here. The SkyTower is Auckland’s major landmark and a tourist attraction. As far as I know, it is the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere.
This souvenir was bought from the souvenir shop situated at the base of this 328 meters tall tower. The tower here is an exact replica of the original. The heavy black base has a map of New Zealand embossed on it. One side is embellished with colorful pieces of the famous Paua sea shells of New Zealand. The whole thing is covered in a flat dome shaped glass.
I guess it can be used as a paper weight too.
P.S.- This is a monthly series exhibiting various souvenirs that I have picked up from my journeys across the globe. You can see more of them here.
