Surviving America

Kindness on the road.

We meet many people on the road, both locals and travelers alike who help us in time of need or distress without expecting a return. Last week of every month I bring you stories from travelers who have experienced kindness on the road and like to share and spread it for the love of travel.
This month’s story has come from Md Arif Rahman of Indonesia who takes us to America.

Good deed not dead!

By Vasu:-
What do you do when you are stranded in the middle of nowhere? Well not exactly nowhere, we knew where we were, but that did not help.
I was living in Plano for the last few weeks and it was normal for us guys from India to impose ourselves on the generosity of the friends already in the US especially when we had to be driven around and why not!

So here we are driving along at a brisk pace, there was some traffic but all moving fast. My colleague and I are discussing some aspects of the … Read the rest

Looking back at Year 2013

Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.

I do believe that gambling and games are quite related. In fact any activity that has the tendency to have an uncertainty in their result is a potential candidate for gambling. These days we have people betting on results of any game or sport.… Read the rest

ABCD of Columbia!

What would you do if someone invited you to Columbia?
What? Columbia? Where is that?
Internet, long live.
Well, no one invited me yet, but I thought I should be prepared, if at all any one did. 🙂

Here is the summary of my findings.

Columbia is another name for the US of A…. and this is only the beginning. Though I guess you won’t find it in the maps, old or new. Its usage is more literary than political.

I ain’t (!) gonna get into a discussion why America is named after Amerigo Vespucci and not Chris, … Read the rest
