Some said “you guys are crazy!”, Some others sniggered and sarcastically said “You sure will have some fun!” And yet others flaunted their superior knowledge and voiced “This is not the right time, you must go there in the Winter”.
The other day one of my friends , who is also a nature photographer, called me and said that he was coming to Mumbai for the first time and wanted to know about budget hotels in Mumbai or maybe 3 star hotels in Mumbai and also if opportunities existed for nature photography!
I know it’s so cliche to reflect back on the year that was, but it’s something we all think is important to do. It is that time again to look back and see how enriching our walk has been. These walks, these journeys opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.
As I always say, I count my memories, not places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.
Ambling around the city or older part of Mumbai gives us excellent visual delights of its rich heritage & history. One can see many main buildings, offices, showcasing the same. From Gateway to Fort to Victoria Terminus, our eyes are never tired to see them.

It so happened that we were visiting Lodhruva Jain temple on a temple trail around Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on a very hot lazy noon. As we walked out of our cars, the temple was on my left hand side and on right side were some people sitting casually on two stone benches under the shade of a tree.
Today is World Heritage Day. There are 30 World Heritage sites in India, and 981 in the whole world. Can anybody visit them in one life? Yes, I know of a person who visits only Heritage sites and he’s been doing it for last 6 years! Slowly, one by one.
While I am not fortunate enough to be like him, I am contended with my own pace. When I look at the pictures of the sites I’ve visited, I feel quite happy.
Today I share pictures of few of the Heritage sites visited by me. I have many more but then this post will be very long. 🙂
The landlord of the house where we are staying proudly leads us up a narrow stairway, past the two floors. The entire house is strewn with furniture of the kind we would exhibit with a view that generates a sense of envy in our neighbours. The walls are a veritable gallery of beautiful paintings and exquisite artifacts.
Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.
As I always say, I count my memories, not the places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.
Have you been here before? I am sure, you haven’t.
Once you are through with the beautiful beaches of Goa, a visit to the bubbling lake could be a change from the sun. Though Budbud Talli, as it is known locally, is called a lake, its small size suggests a tank.
