Looking back at Year 2013

Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock of my journeys, not only in terms of travel but the journeys which opened a new horizon in front of me and helped me see the world with diverse perceptions.
As I always say, I count my memories, not the places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more and better than the destinations.

Being in the sky

Being in the sky

Last three weeks saw me flying into three countries and after that a domestic trip. I was literally in the sky. That’s too much of travel, isn’t it? 🙂

During my flights I could catch up on sleep and watch a few movies. Movies are not high on my priority when I am home so it was good to see some of them. And of course on a few occasions I had interesting co-passengers who won’t let me do my work peacefully. 🙂
I returned yesterday after soaking myself in the local culture & feasting on … Read the rest

Feasting on Ramadan Delicacies

I returned yesterday after soaking myself in the local culture & feasting on local culinary delights of Ramadan of a few countries. It was that time of the year again. The followers of Islam in India, Malaysia, Turkey and other parts of the world fast during the daylight hours of the month long festival of Eid-ul-Fitr or Ramadan maintaining their self-resistance towards their needs and urges. Come evening, they break their fast with mouth watering dishes in this holy month with much gusto.
This year I followed the Ramadan food trail from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Each … Read the rest

5 Must see things in Singapore

5 Must see things in Singapore

Most places we visit have so many things to offer to us, it is quite difficult to identify a few places that would be of interest. On the other sometimes we have very little time on our hands that we would like to visit those few places quickly and prevent an embarrassment back home when someone asks what did you see or do.

In Singapore I recommend the following 5 places which is a must do / see according to me.

ASEAN Community

Dear ASEANita,

I hope you remember me. We have travelled together so many times in the past. Remember the first time we travelled from Mumbai to Kuala Lumpur? I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was Air Asia’s very first flight from Mumbai.
I was bowled over by the service and quality of the aircraft. My love for you grew with time and it can be seen by the fact that I have a pictorial link of you on the sidebar of my blog since that day. Earlier it was Air Asia icon. 🙂

Looking back at 2012

Looking back at 2012

Another year has passed and it’s time to look back and take stock, time to update the set of to-dos, time to see how was the year 2012 for me in terms of travel and otherwise.

As I always say, I count my memories, not the places and I am happy that my travel memories are far more & better than the destinations. Some road trips, some train journeys and a few flights took me places almost every month. I made some new friends, consolidated my bond with old ones.
I also moved to a new … Read the rest

Overland Border Crossing

Overland Border Crossing

How do you feel being at the border of two countries?

Not just flying into a country but being able to see the other side, the other country and its land from this side?
Most times travel to foreign involves flying into that country. But after so many years of travelling I find it quite boring. Of course, it is still the most preferred way as it saves time and may be other hassles that I’ve talked about earlier.
For me it is always intriguing when I cross borders overland where I can stand on a … Read the rest
